Vastuvõtt vabariigi aastapäeva ja Aserbaidžaani Vabariigi diplomaatilise teenistuse 100. aastapäeva puhul Tallinnas

On the occasion of 28 May – Republic Day and 100th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan the official reception organized by the Embassy took place at Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel.

The event was attended by former President of the Republic of Estonia Mr. Arnold Rüütel, members of Estonian Parliament and government, heads and staff members of diplomatic missions accredited in Tallin, journalists, prominent representatives of Estonian public society, businessmen, as well as members of national communities.

After the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Estonia were played, Ambassador Dr. Murad N. Najafbayli spoke about the significance of the Republic Day, the establishment and history of Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Ambassador noted that in 1991, when independence of the country has been restored, Azerbaijan immediately faced huge political, economic and humanitarian challenges posing a real threat to its existence as an independent and sovereign state. The most serious of these was military aggression of Armenia that resulted in the continuous occupation of 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. As a result of ethnic cleansing committed by Armenia, more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons. Despite of this, Azerbaijan achieved a great success in political, economic, social and diplomatic fields. All these achievements are closely linked with the name of the National Leader of Azerbaijani people, late President Heydar Aliyev.

According to the Ambassador, President Mr. Ilham Aliyev ensures successfully the sustainable development of the country by political and economic reforms. Ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan has recommended itself as a reliable partner with its independent policy in the international area over the past 28 years and has made a great contribution to regional development, security, stability, and multiculturalism.

Ambassador also noted that 100th Anniversary of Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan will be celebrated solemnly in 2019.

Various videos presenting Azerbaijan’s economy and culture were shown at the event, featured with Azerbaijani music. Special editions of Azerbaijani magazines dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijani Diplomatic Service were presented to the guests at the event.
