Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov met with the Estonian delegation led by the Minister of Public Administration Mikhail Korb

On April 6, Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadov met with a delegation led by Minister of Public Administration of Estonia, Head of the Azerbaijani-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission, Mikhail Korb.

Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament highly appreciated the activity of Mikhail Korb on the position of a Chairman of the Parliamentary friendship group and expressed hope that the new position will lead to even greater expansion of relations.

He noted the special role of mutual visits of the Head of States and negotiations in the development of the relations between the two countries, as well as high level political dialogue.

Speaking about the development of inter-parliamentary ties, the Chairman gave a great value to the regular meetings of parliamentarians and exchange of views with international organizations on issues of mutual interest.

He stressed that in a short period both sides have come a long way to achieve the targets set. Continuation of development of mutually beneficial cooperation plays an important role in the welfare of our people. He added that in order to deepen relations, special importance is given to the reliable partners and friends.

Asadov, speaking about global projects implemented in the country, informed the guests about the contribution of the North-South transport corridors, such as the restoration of the ancient Silk Road, to the European energy security. Interest by the other party in these kind of projects was noted

Mikhail Korb expressed satisfaction regarding his visit to Azerbaijan and said that Estonia is interested in further development of political, economic and cultural relations with the Caucasus region. Korb added that growing development of political relations allows to look at the economic future of our relations with great hope.

Estonian Minister of Public Administration expressed the wish to join the North-South transport corridor, in which Azerbaijan is the active participant, and intention to further develop the postal-communication cooperation. It was reported that the volume of trade between the two countries increased twice this year. However, Estonia wants to raise its economic relations with Azerbaijan to a higher level. In this respect, it is very important to carry out mutual visits in order to take necessary steps.

The meeting was attended by the Head of Interparliamentary working group, Haji Salayev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Estonia, Murad Najafbayli, Estonian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Marin Mõttus and other officials.
