Azerbaijan represented at the 153rd meeting of the IOTA Executive Council
The 153rd meeting of the Executive Council of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) was held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
The Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, IOTA President Orkhan Nazarli, made a speech at the meeting. The IOTA President noted that the Executive Council is working hard to achieve the organization's strategic goals. Emphasizing that important issues were discussed at the Council meeting, Orkhan Nazarli said that the decisions to be taken are of strategic importance for the organization’s future activities.
The meeting provided information on the events held by IOTA and initiatives to increase the efficiency of the Organization’s activities. The importance of the joint activities of the countries represented in IOTA was emphasized, and their contributions to common goals and shared values were brought to attention.
The meeting continued with discussions on the work done by the IOTA Secretariat, the draft Activity Report between the 152nd and 153rd meetings of the Executive Council, the draft Financial Report for 2024, the Internal Auditors’ Report for 2024–2025, the Annual Implementation Report of the IOTA Strategy for 2024, and the budget execution for 2025.
As part of the visit, IOTA President Orkhan Nazarli met with Raigo Uukkivi, Director General of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of tax administration and the possibilities of implementing digital solutions. The parties emphasized the importance of exchanging experience and agreed to implement joint projects. Orkhan Nazarli invited his Estonian counterpart to participate in the IOTA General Assembly to be held in Baku on June 17-19 of this year.
